When the first new hospital in the Twin Cities in years received approval for construction, they knew they needed to do it right. They asked us to develop a wayfinding strategy that would make navigating the site easy now and into the future, based on projected development. The hospital was designed as a high-quality experience, and the architect insisted that signage be a key component of the interior. Materials used were much thicker than typical plastic signs, giving the signs a more substantial feel. The design reflected the curved features of the building and picked up the style of wood used in each area. Key destinations were highlighted with unique signs such as glass and wood panels and dimensional lettering.
